Privacy Policy
We built this site for a category where trust and privacy are the whole point — you're pasting scam messages and reading about your parents' vulnerabilities. So the policy is short: this site collects almost nothing, sends nothing you type anywhere, and stores nothing about you unless you count a few anonymous counters in your own browser that you can delete with one click.
The short version
- No accounts. You never sign up to use anything on this site.
- No tracking scripts. No third-party analytics, no pixels, no fingerprinting, no advertising cookies. This site sets no cookies at all.
- No ads. Nothing on this page or anywhere else is ad-supported.
- Tools run in your browser. The Scam Risk Check analyzes text locally with a fixed set of rules. Nothing you paste into it is transmitted or stored — not by us, not by anyone. (Please still don't paste passwords, codes, or account numbers: you don't need them to check a message.)
- What little we do record stays on your device. See below.
Local aggregate events (the only data, and it's optional)
To understand whether the tools help people — without ever seeing what people type — the site keeps a small, anonymous event log in your browser's local storage (a file that never leaves your device). Each event contains only:
- a page identifier (e.g., "scam-risk-check") and an event type (e.g., "tool_complete");
- a coarse date (day only, not time);
- for the Scam Risk Check only: the risk band and the rule IDs that matched — never the message text;
- a count for Explain It generations and the platform/task used — never anything you typed (there's nothing to type).
The log is capped at the most recent 200 events, is never sent anywhere, and can be viewed or wiped below. Turning it off is a one-click choice that we respect:

Forms and contact
Our contact page is deliberately email-based: we don't run a contact form, so there's nothing to collect server-side. If you email us, we keep your email only as long as needed to respond and resolve the matter, and we don't add it to any marketing list (there are no marketing lists).
External links
Pages link to government and manufacturer sites (FTC, IC3, Apple, Google, and others). Once you leave this site, their privacy policies apply — we don't control them, and we recommend them only because they're the right places to verify things.
What we will never do
- Store, transmit, or log raw scam-checker input, passwords, codes, or account numbers.
- Host private family documents. (A printable blank checklist is the furthest we go — see the documents checklist.)
- Sell or share personal information, because we don't collect any in the first place.
- Route anything through third-party services that would see what you type on this site.
If we ever change this
Any change that starts collecting more data will be announced on this page with a clear "what changed" note and a new effective date, and it will be scoped to the minimum needed. We won't quietly add trackers — that would be the opposite of the whole project.
