Terms of Use
Short version: this site gives general, practical information for everyday situations. It is not professional medical, legal, or financial advice, and it's not a substitute for the people who are licensed to give those. The few rules below keep the site honest and usable for everyone.
1. The content is general guidance, not professional advice
Everything on this site — pages, tools, checklists, and guides — is general information about common situations, written for a broad audience. It is not medical, legal, tax, financial, or individualized care advice, and it does not create any professional-client relationship. Decisions about a specific person's health, money, or legal rights should be made with the appropriate licensed professionals. Where a situation could go badly with general advice, we say so on the page and we mean it.
2. The tools are decision aids, not verdicts
The Scam Risk Check is a deterministic pattern screener: it matches your input against a fixed list of curated rules and reports what it finds. It can miss new scams and it can flag things a human would recognize as routine. It is not a guarantee, a detection service, or a security audit. The Explain It tool provides instructions that may not match your exact device version. Use your judgment, and verify anything involving money, accounts, or safety through official channels.
3. Use of content
You're welcome to read, print, save, and share our pages and tool results for personal, non-commercial use — in fact, printing and sharing is the point. Republishing our content commercially (including scraping, repackaging, or selling it) requires our written permission. Links to the site are always welcome.
4. No warranties
We work hard to keep content accurate, sourced, and current, but we make no warranties about completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Information changes: devices get updates, companies change policies, prices move. Check the dates on the page and verify high-stakes facts at the primary sources we link. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made based on this site's content.
5. External links
We link to government and manufacturer resources because they're the right places to verify things. We don't control those sites, and a link is a recommendation to verify, not an endorsement of everything on the target site.
6. Privacy
Use of the site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which you should read — it's short and it tells you exactly what we don't collect.
7. Changes
We may update these terms as the site grows. The effective date above tells you which version applies. Material changes will be noted here.
